the beginning is very revealing: "dont listen to me, just keep on drawing" nine year olds might not know much about history, but if they overhear their parents complain about how the black man wont ever be able to achieve nothing and if they keep getting told that they wont ever be able to achieve nothing with some kids something will stick like shit to a baseball bat. that's the whole mystery here.
