I am not sure if this is what you were talking about tthunderdan, but if you want to exclude some versions from your animation, set the amount of frames you want that version to show to zero.
Here I set version two and three to zero frames and they don't show.
Not too helpful on editing old versions, but at least when you see something that doesn't look right, you can start redrawing after the frames you want to exclude.

although it's not nearly as exciting as one of yr texturescapes, a few drawrs ago I saved every last step of filling in a box with color blobs (have a look if you care to) and am pretty pleased with the results of the ensuing animation --- maybe you could give us a similar but grander treat by making an animation of one of yr goddess quilts.
